We're big fans of Carnivale, an HBO television series. This track's draws inspiration from one of its main characters, which is more of an idea really, than a person.
It's about someone who's supposed to know everything, to always know right from wrong. About people needing that sort of father figure and how it's not much fun being the only one who can talk to God.
Thank you, Daniel Knauf, for creating this series.
lyrics
Management
When you're all alone in a bowl of dust
And everybody's looking to you
'cause it's you they'll follow and in God they trust
And you're the one he's talking to
You’re the only one he's talking to
Will you tell them it came
Straight down from management
Nothing you can say
Go talk to management
Why don't they
Every move you make, every single turn
The growl of your following grows
But dispite complaints they are not concerned
because they really like to think you know
Yeah, they really like to think you know
When you tell them it came
Straight down from management
Nothing you can say
Go talk to management
Why don't they
When you're tired of travelling the lonely road
crowded as its shoulder may be
When you're tired of carrying the holy load
Why don't you run to me
You can always come and run to me
I'll tell you it came
Straight down from management
Nothing I can do
Go talk to management
Why don't you
